Spenser Confidential Trailer Spenser, a former Boston patrolman who just got out from prison, teams up with Hawk, an aspiring fighter, to unravel the truth behind the death of two police officers. Genre: Action, Comedy, Thriller Actor: Alan Arkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Colleen Camp, Mark Wahlberg Director: Peter Berg Country: USA Duration: 110 min Quality: HD 720 Release: 2020 IMDb: N/A.

Nothing more to say, I saved 2 hours of your life, what a waste of time. Spenser Confidential, directed by Peter Berg, was sadly a regular Netflix cash grab. Peter Berg loosely based it on the novel by Ace Atkins & Robert B. Parker, but it just fell flat. With the chemistry Peter Berg & Mark Wahlberg have from doing Patriots Day, Lone Survivor, Deep Water Horizon & Mile 22, you'd expect maybe something more tight, but this was a big mess, with awful foreshadowing.
The story was fast paced, being all over the place, having a few subplots, that I just didn't care about, due to a crappy script, and crumby characters. With such a cookie cutter premise, everything was predictable throughout the whole film, although I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it to be one of those guilty pleasure flicks.
Other than Mark Wahlberg, and barely at that, no characters really held up. They were all dumb as can be, and pretty boring. If you want Mark Wahlberg playing himself, you're in the right place. He absolutely sleep walks through his performance, not bringing anything new, or original to the table. I like Winston Duke as an actor, but he literally had almost nothing to do in this movie. He hung around the whole time, maybe having two or three funny lines. One of my favorite older actors in the game right now, Alan Arkin, had the most jokes out of all the characters. Although almost all of his jokes missed, it's hard to hate on the man. Seeing Donald Cerrone & Post Malone in this was flick, was all I needed to see, to know that this wasn't going to be good. Truthfully, Post Malone wasn't horrible; granted he had about a total of five minutes of screen time, but I really didn't mind him all the much, while Donald Cerrone had about ninty seconds of screen time.
The screenplay by Brian Helgeland & Sean O'Keefe just flat out sucked. It may have had a few okay jokes, but mainly it was over taken by a A LOT of bad one liners. The script was about as cliché & predictable as a Boston cop, Mark Wahlberg movie would ever be. Peter Berg taking the risk of adding comedy to his action/thriller's, simply did not pay off.
The action overall was pretty choppy & overused, but it still was entertaining to see, if you're able to go along with it. With Neal H. Mortiz producing, you can really feel his Fast & Furious style action. The best part about the action, was the stuntmen. They really put on a high intensity action scene, come the final act.
The music by Steve Jablonsky was one of the best parts of the movie. He added some fun throwback tracks, that really helped the audience try to vibe with the silly tone.
Overall, Spenser Confidential was STRICTLY meant for a high and/or drunk boys night ONLY.
